Business VoIP & Comms

Modern communications for the modern workplace.

Overview

Traditional phone systems — PBX hardware, copper lines, desk phones that require on-site maintenance — are an expensive, inflexible way to run business communications. Cloud-based VoIP and unified communications platforms give you better call quality, lower costs, and the ability to make and receive business calls from anywhere — without locking you into hardware that depreciates and breaks.

Binary Barriers deploys and manages cloud phone systems and unified communications platforms for GTA businesses that want modern, reliable communications without the complexity of managing it themselves. We handle number porting, system configuration, user setup, and integration with Microsoft Teams and your CRM — then manage the platform on an ongoing basis.

We're technology-neutral: we recommend the right platform for your size and use case. For most Microsoft 365 businesses, Teams Voice is the most seamless solution. For businesses with more complex call routing needs, we work with other cloud PBX platforms that integrate cleanly with your existing tools.

Our Approach

How We Deliver It

1

System Recommendation & Design

We assess your call volumes, routing requirements, integration needs, and team structure — then recommend the right platform. For Microsoft 365 businesses, we typically recommend Teams Voice.

2

Number Porting

We manage the porting of your existing business phone numbers to the new platform. This requires coordination with your current carrier and precise timing — we handle all of it so you don't experience gaps in service.

3

Configuration & Rollout

IVR menus, call queues, routing rules, voicemail, auto-attendants, and hunt groups — all configured to match how your business actually handles calls. User accounts are set up and tested before go-live.

4

Integration

We integrate your phone system with Microsoft Teams, your CRM, and other business systems where applicable. Click-to-call, call logging, and contact sync reduce manual work and keep records current.

5

Ongoing Management

Number changes, new user setup, routing updates, and troubleshooting are handled by us on an ongoing basis. No more calling a carrier to make a simple change and waiting three days.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between VoIP and Teams Voice?

VoIP is a general term for phone calls delivered over the internet instead of copper lines. Microsoft Teams Voice is specifically the phone system functionality built into Microsoft Teams — enabling regular phone calls through Teams. It's our recommended solution for businesses already using Microsoft 365.

Can we keep our existing phone numbers?

Yes. We handle number porting from your current carrier to the new platform. Porting takes 2–4 weeks on average and is carefully coordinated so there's no gap in your ability to receive calls.

Do staff need to be at their desk to take calls?

No. Cloud VoIP and Teams Voice let staff make and receive business calls from their laptop, mobile phone, or any device — wherever they are. This is one of the primary advantages over legacy PBX systems.

What happens to call quality if our internet goes down?

Call quality depends on internet reliability. For businesses with high call volumes or where phone availability is critical, we recommend a backup internet connection or cellular failover. We assess your connectivity as part of the VoIP project.

Can you integrate with our CRM?

Yes, for the most common CRMs. Integration varies by platform — click-to-call, automatic call logging, and contact screen-pops are all achievable depending on your CRM and the VoIP platform we deploy. We'll confirm compatibility during the design phase.
